Tuesday March 18, 2014
As in previous years Fundación Dédalo is contributing to the GOW campaign by organizing different activities oriented to the acquisition of technological skills.
GOW 2014 is a campaign conducted in Europe by Telecentre-Europe from 24 through 30 March in telecentres, public-access Internet sites, libraries, educational centres and NGOs. Its main purpose is to help young people attending these facilities to “get wired”, improve their employability by learning and using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), and learn how to use new digital tools essential for their daily lives.
In 2014, the main focus will be on employment and digital jobs, consistent with the policy and industry efforts to reach higher employment rates and to better match the eSkills supply and demand. The campaign will raise awareness and will tackle few key areas that could contribute strongly to the employment needs: eSkills training, ICT certification and the access to digital jobs.
Telecentre-Europe will work with its member organizations (telecentre networks) as GOW national partners that will further engage at least 5,000 community telecentres in campaign activities that will reach directly at least 50,000 people and raise awareness of at least 500,000 Europeans.
Social media will be used extensively to engage the audience, to register participants and to demonstrate the impact of GOW. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and national social media will be the main channels to communicate with community telecentres and end users.
